ABOUT THIS COURSE
Each course features two novels written in English, at least one being modern, usually written within the last two years. Each week you will be asked to read a set amount and you will discuss this part of the novel in class. This course offers you the opportunity to develop your vocabulary and language skills and to use your English to discuss real life issues.

Authors we have enjoyed in the past include: Pat Barker, Graham Greene, Doris Lessing, Zadie Smith, Maggie O’Farrell, Nadine Gordimer, David Guterson, E. M. Forster, Philip Larkin and Michael Ondaatje.
COURSE OUTLINE
In the Literature course you will:
• read two novels in English
• discuss the plot, themes, style and characters
• share ideas and opinions with other members of the class
• talk about how this novel relates to your life
• compare your experiences with those of characters in the novels
• develop your vocabulary
• develop your reading skills and speed
• learn about different cultures and social situations
• have an opportunity to write about the novels
