This course is for learners who are currently studying at or preparing to enter a higher education institution. Minimum entry requirement of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent. The course covers academic research and writing skills.
This course is designed for Secondary and Junior College students entering Polytechnics or Universities.
By the end of this course you will be able to:

• Structure an essay or project
• Use quotations and paraphrasing and avoid plagiarism
• Paraphrase and summarise ideas
• Reference your sources to internationally-recognised academic standards
• Take notes more confidently whilst listening to a lecture
• Write an abstract
• Write appropriate introductions and conclusions
• Think critically
• Give clear and concise presentations
• Research your topic
You will have to write a 2,000-4,000 word essay and give a short presentation on the topic by the end of the course. This will determine whether you have successfully completed the course.
